Non Linear Narratives
·         Chronology – arrangement of dates and events in order

·         Concurrent / parallel narratives- concurrent: Happening at the same time

Parallel narratives:


·         Flashback / Flashforward- flashback: set in a time earlier than the main story, flashforward- is a scene that takes the narrative forward in time

·         Time and space - events occur, viewed as a single and continous framework.


·         Serial format- a serial format is continuing from on episode that happened before

·         Cliffhangers- is an ending of a plot device which happens with a shocking revelation at the end of a show.


·         Editing and non-linear narratives: continuity v dis-continuity : continuity - carrying on with the scene.

dis continuity : include flashbacks and flash forward.
Narration
·         Use of a narrator as a piece to camera, voice over, caption: narrator - someone who narrates something . voice over - a piece of narration. caption- a title or brief explanation in illustration 


·         Subjective / objective- subjective- based on personal feelings 
o     objective- based on person judgement not their feelings.


·         Mode of address / tone- mode of address is when there a relation to the addresser and the addressee
tone - is the mood of a character or their attitude of a place.
Genre and its function
·         Types- a catergory of people or thing having certain characteristics.

·         Sub –genres- a subdivision of a genre 


·         Cross genre products- its the blending of a theme and element from two or more different genres


·         Role for the audience- we the consumers of the product.


Role for the producer-plan and coordinate various aspects of film production.
